Reading

I’ve been doing a lot of reading lately.  I forgot how enjoyable it can be.  I haven’t read much for pleasure since eighth grade.  That year I filled up my hall pass with going to the library, reading about a book a week and finishing with 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.  Now my reading consists of various blogs, forums, Mother Earth News, and a list of books from the library, currently Walden is what I am working on.  I’m afraid that with longer, warmer days I won’t set aside time to read this summer.  I think I need to get a chair to put in my bedroom, away from all of the other distractions around the house.  I could even get a nicer recliner if I keep the dog from destroying it.

Today is what I have coined “Pho Friday”.  I have been going down to Findlay Market for lunch at Pho Lang Thang, a Vietnamese restaurant, since it started getting warmer.  Even though it is warm, Pho just seems light and refreshing.  It’s not one of those meals that is heavy and makes me feel like being lazy the rest of the day.  I need to start making some.  It should be a good freezer staple, something that can be warmed up quickly when I don’t want to take time to cook.  I don’t know if I could freeze it with the noodles already in it, but they are easy to cook.

Like the Pho, this is just a light post, some musings spinning around in my head.  Happy for the weekend to start in a couple hours.  Working at Enright Ridge tomorrow.  I have a few things on my to-do list for around the stead as well.  Cooper and I might go hiking, I want to train him to find deer antler sheds so one of us needs to find one I can use to train him with.  Heather is away at Equine Affair in Columbus.  She gets back Sunday, so until then I will enjoy living like a bachelor.
